Privacy Policy
Last updated October 21, 2026
Family documents are personal. This policy explains, in plain language, what information Digital Dynasty LLC (“Digital Dynasty”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our website and transcription service, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It’s part of our Terms of Service.
The short version
- Your pages and transcriptions belong to you.
- We use them only to provide the service to you.
- We never sell your information, and we don’t use your documents to train AI.
- Advertising cookies are optional, and you can turn them off at any time.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and password. We store passwords only in scrambled (hashed) form, never the password itself.
- Your documents: the photos, scans and PDFs you upload, and the transcriptions created from them.
- Project details: what you tell us to help transcribe your pages, such as project names, time periods, languages, writers’ names, the names and places you add, sample pages you type, and any corrections you make.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and billing records: your plan, credit balance and the pages you’ve transcribed.
- Technical information: like most websites, our hosting provider records basic request information (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) in server logs used for security and troubleshooting.
- Free one-page try: to keep this free for everyone, we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, not the address itself, so we can limit tries to one per day.
- Bot protection: on the sign-in, sign-up, password reset and free-try forms, our bot protection checks signals from your browser to confirm you’re a person.
- Site improvement: unless you decline, Microsoft Clarity records how visitors scroll and click on our public pages (homepage, pricing, sign-up and sign-in) so we can make them easier to use. It never runs inside your account, the free-try box is hidden from it, and anything typed into forms is hidden.
- Advertising measurement: unless you decline, the Meta Pixel records visits to our pages and a few key actions (creating an account, trying a page, starting a subscription) so we can tell which of our ads work. See Cookies.
Payment information
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. Stripe tells us your plan, payment status and the last details we need to manage your subscription.
2. How we use your information
- to transcribe your pages, flag words worth checking, and create your downloads;
- to run your account, plans and credits, and process payments;
- to send you service emails, such as password resets and important account or billing notices;
- to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, fraud and bots;
- to fix problems and improve the service; and
- to meet our legal obligations.
We don’t use your documents or transcriptions for advertising, we don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t use your documents to train artificial intelligence models.
3. How your pages are transcribed
To read your handwriting, we send each page image, together with the project details you’ve given us (such as names and the time period), to our AI provider, Anthropic, which returns the transcription. To show you exactly where a flagged word sits on your page, we also send the page image to Google Cloud Vision. Both process this information on our behalf to provide the service. Under their terms for business customers, they do not use it to train their AI models, though they may keep it for a short time for security and abuse monitoring.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with companies that help us run the service, and only as much as they need:
- Vercel: website hosting and bot protection
- Supabase: our database and secure file storage, where your account, pages and transcriptions are kept
- Anthropic: AI transcription
- Google Cloud: locating flagged words on your page images
- Stripe: payments and subscriptions
- Resend: sending account emails
- Calendly: booking help calls, only if you open the booking calendar on our Help page. Anything you enter to book a call goes to Calendly under its own privacy notice.
- Microsoft (Clarity): recordings of clicks and scrolling on our public pages, as described above, only if you don’t decline cookies. Microsoft processes this under its own privacy statement.
- Meta (Facebook): measuring our ads, only if you don’t decline advertising cookies. Meta receives page visits and the actions listed above, from your browser and from our servers, along with technical details such as your IP address and browser and, for sign-ups and subscriptions, your email address in scrambled (hashed) form so Meta can match the action to its own records. It never receives your documents, transcriptions or project details.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Digital Dynasty, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to protect your information. Our service providers store and process information in the United States.
5. Cookies
Essential: one cookie keeps you signed in (it lasts up to 30 days). The service can’t work without it.
Advertising: we use the Meta Pixel to measure how well our ads on Facebook and Instagram work. It uses cookies set by Meta, and Meta may use this information under its own privacy policy, including to show you ads. When you first visit, a notice lets you accept or decline. If you decline, the Pixel is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of our pages. Declining doesn’t affect how the service works.
We also count visits to our homepage, pricing and sign-up pages anonymously, as simple daily totals by where the visit came from (for example, an ad or a search engine). This uses no cookies and stores nothing about you. Microsoft Clarity also uses cookies to see how visitors use our public pages, as described above; declining cookies turns it off too. We don’t use any other analytics or tracking. If you live in California or another state that gives you the right to opt out of “sharing” personal information for advertising, declining advertising cookies does that. You can also email us.
6. How long we keep information
- Your account and documents: for as long as your account is open, or until you delete them.
- Free one-page tries: deleted after 24 hours unless you create an account to keep the page.
- Password reset links: expire shortly after they’re sent.
- After you delete your account: your projects, pages, transcriptions and uploaded images are deleted right away. Copies may remain in our providers’ encrypted backups for a short period before they’re overwritten.
- Billing records: payment records held by Stripe may be kept longer where tax and accounting laws require it.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and download your information: you can view all of your pages and transcriptions in the app and download them at any time.
- Correct it: edit transcriptions and project details, and change your email or password from your account page.
- Delete it: delete individual projects, or your entire account from your account page.
- Emails: we only send emails related to your account and service.
Depending on where you live (for example, California or other US states with privacy laws), you may have additional rights, such as asking what personal information we hold about you, or asking us to delete or correct it. To make a request, email robert@getdigitaldynasty.com. We’ll respond within the time the law requires and won’t treat you differently for using your rights.
8. Information about other people in your documents
Family papers often mention other people: relatives, neighbors and friends, some of whom may still be living. We process that information only to transcribe the documents for you. Please be thoughtful about what you upload and share, particularly sensitive details about living people such as health, finances or government ID numbers.
9. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), encrypted storage, hashed passwords, private file storage that isn’t publicly accessible, and limited access. No online service can be completely secure, so we also encourage you to use a strong, unique password. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.
10. Children
Digital Dynasty is for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. If we make significant changes, we’ll tell you by email or in the service before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
